DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Pollinator Party at the pollinator garden at Blevins Gap Nature Preserve on August 22nd from 9:00 to 12:00! \nBecome a citizen scientist and help us collect data for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census! You don’t have to be an expert in plants or insects to participate. We will learn about pollinator plants and insects and count how many pollinators visit a plant in 15 minutes. Other activities include Pollinator BINGO (with prizes!)\, children’s crafts\, and educational displays. The Madison County Beekeepers Association will lead a Beekeeping 101 Presentation to introduce us to the world of beekeeping. Join the Flower Walk to learn about the pollinator plants in Marie’s Garden. DESCRIPTION:Families with young children (ages 18 months to 3 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nLittle Forest Friends is designed with activities for young toddlers (18 months to 3 years) to enjoy\, but older siblings are welcome to join! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available\, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.\nAges: 18 months – 3 years. This hike will start at the Fanning trailhead with a climb up the Fanning Trail to the Stevenson Trail. We will rejoin the Fanning Trail and continue to climb until we hit the Walsingham Trail. DESCRIPTION:Join us in a Trail Build as we extend Bailey Cove Trail to create a new loop at Blevins Gap North. Volunteers may hike up to 3 miles with more than 250 feet of elevation change. \nNo experience required. Please wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. Bug spray\, sunscreen\, work gloves\, eye protection\, and water recommended. Complete a separate registration for each individual participating (each person must sign a waiver). Guardians may sign up on behalf of minors. Registration Required. \nMeeting Location: Walsingham Trailhead – (7855 Walsingham Rd SEHuntsville\, AL 35802) From Cecil Ashburn Drive\, at the first traffic signal\, turn left onto Donegal Drive SE.
