DESCRIPTION:Families with young children (ages 18 months to 3 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nLittle Forest Friends is designed with activities for young toddlers (18 months to 3 years) to enjoy\, but older siblings are welcome to join! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, March 25\, 2026 \nBlevins Gap Nature Preserve North \nThis Homeschool Teen Hike will take place at Blevins Gap North at the Fanning Trailhead\, located behind Southeast Church of the Nazarene.  We will follow the Little Foot Loop and Jones Valley Loop trails\, stopping to nature journal and take photos. There is plenty to see along these trails including a creek\, interesting rocks and flora\, mushrooms and lichen. Be sure to dress in layers for the weather\, wear hiking shoes\, and bring a snack and water. \nTo get to the Fanning Trailhead at Blevins Gap North trailhead you will park behind Southeast Church of the Nazarene at 2275 Cecil Ashburn Dr SE\, Huntsville\, AL 35802 \nThis hike is for teens\, ages 12 – 17. A parent or guardian must accompany each teen to the preserve\, and we ask that younger siblings not attend. SUMMARY:Hike at Blevins Gap South
DESCRIPTION:(Moderate / 2.5 hours / 3.25 miles) Blevins Gap Nature Preserve provides some of the best views of Huntsville in the area. If you’ve not seen the city (and Jackson County to the east) from this vantage point\, you’re going to want to check it out! This hike is rated moderate\, but it does start with a significant climb of some 300 feet over the first half mile of walking. After that\, it levels off for an easy walk. The hike will start at Blevins Gap Trailhead and head south on Bill and Marion Certain Trail. DESCRIPTION:Please note the new ages!  Do you have a friend ages 3 – 5 years?  If so\, please take a look at our Forest Friends offering. \nFamilies with young children (ages 18 months to 3 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nLittle Forest Friends is designed with activities for young toddlers (18 months to 3 years) to enjoy\, but older siblings are welcome to join! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available\, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.\nAges: 18 months – 3 years. An accompanying adult is required for all programs.\nWhat to Bring: Closed toe shoes are required.
