SUMMARY:Book Launch: Seth Panitch\, Antique
DESCRIPTION:The Snail on the Wall is excited to welcome playwright\, screenwriter\, filmmaker\, and University of Alabama professor\, Seth Panitch\, to celebrate his new book\, Antique\, an uplifting\, magical novel about ambition\, self-worth\, and the perilous allure of power\, following a fallen appraiser who must rediscover her true value beyond success\, love\, and enchantment. \nThe event will be held at The Snail on the Wall bookstore. \nTickets are $5\, with the full $5 going toward any book purchase at the event. \nGet Tickets Here. \nAbout Antique:\nRaised by an eminent but emotionally withdrawn scholar\, Grace Schaffer’s talent landed her a coveted spot on Antiques Roadshow\, but she’s recently fallen from her gilded perch\, losing her career\, her marriage\, and her very identity in the process. In a last-ditch attempt to revive her career\, she signs on to an amateur traveling show\, where an old\, tarnished necklace catches her eye and imbues her with a strange and sudden confidence. As Grace struggles to find her own worth outside the comfort of marriage\, the limelight of career\, and even the necklace’s awesome power\, she comes face to face with the hardest appraisal of all … herself. \nAbout Seth Panitch:\nSeth is a Professor of Theatre and directs the MFA Acting Program at the University of Alabama. Far more importantly\, he is married to Laura Earnest Pantich\, who does not seem to mind when he creeps upstairs to write\, or when he lets their dog Moses use him as a jungle gym. Seth is a proud member of the Authors Guild\, the Dramatists Guild of America\, the Society of Directors and Choreographers\, and the Illuminati—although he has steadfastly refused to have their name tattooed onto his chest.

SUMMARY:Book Talk: Steven Tom\, The Aviator
DESCRIPTION:Join The Snail on the Wall as we delve into WWI history through Steven Tom’s newest biography\, The Aviator: A Biography of James R. McConnell\, Lafayette Escadrille Fighter Pilot. \nThe event will be at The Snail on the Wall bookstore. Tickets are $5\, with $5 going toward any book purchase at the event. \nGet Tickets Here \nAbout The Aviator:\nJame R. McConnell was a fighter pilot in the famous squadron of American volunteers who fought for the French prior to US entry into World War I\, the Lafayette Escadrille.\nPrior to joining the escadrille\, McConnell served in France as an ambulance driver. He documented the front\, both on the ground and in the air in Flying for France\, a bestselling book published just before his death. A modest character\, Jim included very little information about himself in his book. Even while at the front\, McConnell remained in regular correspondence with his family\, friends\, and girlfriends. A large volume of these original letters are preserved today. \nAbout Steven Tom:\nSteve Tom grew up in northern Indiana\, traveled around the world during a 20+ year Air Force career. When Steve was sixteen his great aunt gave him a copy of “War Letters of Kiffin Yates Rockwell\,” a pioneering World War One pilot. This sparked a lifelong interest in that war and led to “First to Fight\,” the story of Kiffin Rockwell published by Stackpole Books. Steve is a member of the League of World War One Aviation Historians.
