The overhang served as a shelter for native residents and travelers over this area’s human history. DESCRIPTION:(Moderate/around 3 hours/around 4.4 miles) Come and check out Land Trust’s newest trail on Green Mountain Nature Preserve! Beginning at the Astalot trailhead\, be prepared for a beautiful afternoon climbing the west side of Green Mountain. This trail ascends a total of a little over seven hundred feet\, but there are plenty of comfortable sections along the trail to catch your breath after the more strenuous climbs. Note the three distinct sections of species on the mountain as you walk along the trail–especially the smoke trees about halfway along! \nNote: Please consider carpooling with other participants to this trailhead\, as it is in a neighborhood with limited parking.
