DESCRIPTION:Due to forecasted weather and trail conditions\, we’ve had to cancel this hike.  Please watch for this to possibly be rescheduled.  If nothing else\, we hope to see you at the May event! \n(Moderate / about 2 hours / around 2 miles) \nWe will hike Legacy Loop which starts at the City of Huntsville’s Trailhead Greenway near the spring house. The trail leads you up and down the mountain through the forest\, and finishes up further down the greenway. This trail is listed as moderate difficulty due to elevation change and rocky terrain. \nThis hike is for teens\, ages 12–17. A parent or guardian must accompany each teen to the preserve\, and we ask that younger siblings not attend. Parents and guardians don’t have to hike. Be sure to wear hiking shoes\, bring layers and a snack and water. We will stop along the trail for nature journaling and taking photos\, so bring your favorite art supplies. We may also enter interesting finds into iNaturalist for identification. \nIn the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather or trail conditions\, we will send a notification to the email address you use to register. \nMeeting Location: Hickory Cove\, Trailhead Greenway Parking – 1500 Trailhead Main St\, Huntsville\, AL 35811 \nComing from Huntsville\, head east on Highway 72. At the intersection of Highway 72 and Moores Mill Road\, turn right into the Trailhead community.Then turn right onto Trailhead Main Street. Be ready to join in the sets for St. Patrick’s Day or Burns Night or any other time there’s celtic music available to dance to. \nThe goal of this class is to teach you the basics of Irish and Scots ceili dances\, along with some of the more widely known dances. \nWhile we probably can’t cover dances from all seven Celtic Nations\, we’ll do our best to present a wide selection of celtic dance and have a good time dancing it. No previous experience or partners required. Learn everything you ever wanted to know about celtic dance but were afraid to ask. \nSaturdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm. \n$15/$10 students. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nForest Friends is designed with activities for older toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3 to 5 years) to enjoy\, but younger siblings are welcome! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events.
