SUMMARY:Homeschool Teen Hike: Hickory Cove
DESCRIPTION:  \n(Moderate / about 2 hours / around 2 miles) \nWe will hike Legacy Loop which starts at the City of Huntsville’s Trailhead Greenway near the spring house. The trail leads you up and down the mountain through the forest\, and finishes up further down the greenway. This trail is listed as moderate difficulty due to elevation change and rocky terrain. \nThis hike is for teens\, ages 12–17. A parent or guardian must accompany each teen to the preserve\, and we ask that younger siblings not attend. Parents and guardians don’t have to hike. Be sure to wear hiking shoes\, bring layers and a snack and water. We will stop along the trail for nature journaling and taking photos\, so bring your favorite art supplies. We may also enter interesting finds into iNaturalist for identification. \nIn the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather or trail conditions\, we will send a notification to the email address you use to register. \nMeeting Location: Hickory Cove\, Trailhead Greenway Parking – 1500 Trailhead Main St\, Huntsville\, AL 35811 \nComing from Huntsville\, head east on Highway 72. SUMMARY:Hump Day Hike at Monte Sano (Three Caves Trailhead)
DESCRIPTION:(Moderate to Difficult/ 2 hours/ 3-3.5 miles) Join us for a somewhat challenging midweek hike at the Monte Sano Nature Preserve starting at the Three Caves trailhead. The hike will start on the Three Caves Loop Trail overlooking Three Caves and then uphill for approximately 0.3 miles on the Waterline Trail.  The route will leave the Waterline Trail and connect to the Young-Kennedy Trail (heading south) which will end near a seasonal waterfall after another short uphill.  We will then take the Wagon Trail back to the Waterline Trail.  Then it is all downhill back to the Three Caves trailhead.   \nNote: This preserve has several trailheads – be sure to come to the right one. \nLocation: Monte Sano Nature Preserve (Three Caves Trailhead) – 901 Kennamer Dr SE\, Huntsville\, AL 35801 \nSign Up \nIn the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather or trail conditions\, we will send a notification to the email address you use to register.

Her contemporary work bridges classical beauty with the modern painting practices of today. She has been awarded the honor of the Bold Brush Award\, a distinction an artist may achieve only once in their lifetime. Ann’s work has recently been selected as a finalist in the Art Renewal Center\, been featured in several Oil Painters of America exhibits. She has been awarded by the National Acrylic & Oil Painters Society and Portrait Society of America. \nIn 2015\, Ann partnered with two other artists to help co-found Protege Atelier\, where she paints\, teaches\, and assists in bringing master artist workshops to Huntsville. Steverson is also the inventor and founder of Venus Copper Panels\, now known as Artefex Copper Panels\, the first CCM (copper composite material) artist panel. \nA native of Madison\, Alabama\, Ann began painting in oils at the University of Montevallo in 1999. She graduated in 2002 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville\, completing a B.A. with a Fine Arts Concentration. Ann then acquired a Master of Art Education from Alabama A&M University in Normal\, Alabama. \nAnn exhibits her work nationally and internationally and soon will have several of her works included in the Peregrine Collection\, via which they will be archived on the moon. \nAnn Moeller has been painting for over 20 years\, and she’s excited to share her knowledge with students of all levels.
