SUMMARY:Forest Friends at Chapman Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Families with young children (ages 3 to 5 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nForest Friends is designed with activities for older toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3 to 5 years) to enjoy\, but younger siblings are welcome! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available\, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.\nAges: 3 – 5 years. An accompanying adult is required for all programs.\nWhat to Bring: Closed toe shoes are required. DESCRIPTION:Families with elementary aged children are invited to attend these homeschool enrichment program events focused on exploring the natural environment to develop a connection to the land\, to wildlife and to each other. DESCRIPTION:Join Cane Creek Land Stewards in trail care work such as: building natural steps and water control features\, updating trail markers and assisting with trail cutbacks and clearing debris from trails. \nVolunteers may expect to hike up to 3 miles with elevation changes of greater than 250 feet. No experience required. Wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. Please bring water\, snacks\, and work gloves. Extra water\, work gloves and tools will be provided. SUMMARY:Senior Saunter at Wade Mountain Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:(Moderate / 4 hours / Around 3 miles) \nFrom the Saunter leader\, Lynne Weninegar:  \n\nThese walks are planned especially for those Land Trust Members who are nature lovers and at least 60 years old (or feel our age) who just want to relax and enjoy a slow pace while experiencing nature at its best.  Please come prepared for nature’s little “distractions – ants\, ticks\, other “bugs”\, and the heat”. You will need insect repellent\, snacks\, closed-toed shoes (preferably hiking boots)\, water\, sunscreen and maybe a walking stick if you need extra confidence! Non-members are welcome for their first hike with us\, but are asked to become members of the Land Trust of North Alabama prior to attending a second hike. We love providing fun for everyone on our Preserves. A membership offers you many other opportunities\, as well as provides the Land Trust the ability to continue preserving land in North Alabama! We look forward to seeing you for this year’s Senior Saunters! \n\nLoad the iNaturalist app onto your phone and join Lynne Weninegar for a slow walk up to Devil’s Racetrack to see the Tennessee Valley and some very unique and interesting plants along the way! We will have lunch at the top of Wade Mountain\,  so pack a lunch\, plenty of water\, and snacks! If you have never been to the “Devil’s Racetrack\,” now is your chance to do the saunter\, take awesome photos\, and enjoy a view like no other on our Land Trust Preserves. Meet in the Spraggins Hollow parking lot at 9:00 AM.
