DESCRIPTION:Land Trust of North Alabama is partnering with Cain Creek Outdoors to offer a Wilderness First Aid course at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve. This 16-hour course will provide you with the skills and confidence to assess and treat trauma and illnesses in the backcountry when help is more than an hour away. \nThis course will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. over two days. Please wear older clothing as all participants are offered a chance to play a “victim” during the training scenarios. All attendees must be at least 16 years old. \nUpon completion of the course\, attendees will be presented with a certificate in Wilderness First Aid with Adult\, Youth\, and Infant CPR/AED that is valid for two years. There is also an option to add on an epi-pen certification. \nRegistration fee $120. Registration is at the Cain Creek Outdoors website. DESCRIPTION:(Easy / Around 1 hour / 1.75 miles) Harvest Square Nature Preserve has a lot of things about it that appeal to the casual hiker: Its trails are relatively easy to walk on\, there’s not a lot of mileage\, and – best of all – there are no hills! Mapping this hike shows it to have a whopping 20 feet of elevation gain over nearly two miles. While the exact route of the hike will be determined by the leader\, participants will see nearly the entire preserve with the exception of part of Senators Trail. The cards are always the same size\, 2.5×3.5 and fit in the sleeves made for baseball cards\, but you don’t have to store them there. Add them to a journal\, a recipe box\, or make up your own way of storing them. I have these Swaps planned for once every 3 months.
