SUMMARY:Master Artist Workshop with Jill Stefani Wagner
DESCRIPTION:Finding Light and Inspiration in Your Photo References in Pastel with Jill Stefani Wagner\,\nPSA-MP\, IAPS/MC\, GLPS\nSkill Level: All skill levels are welcome\nThursday – Saturday\, October 23 – 25\, 2025; 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.$200 deposit/$650 members/$700 non-members\nLearn More at https://hsvmuseum.org/master-artist-workshops/\n \nIn this workshop\, beginning to advanced students will explore ways to create unique\, personal works of art based on their own reference photos. Participants will learn how to find dynamic compositions with strong focal points and push color to enhance their vision. We’ll step away from the confinement of exact “copying” of reference materials and move toward finding our own interpretation of a scene.\nDay 1: egin with an explanation of Jill’s 5-step process and a demonstration using a tonal underpainting to create a halftone “structure” on which to build her pastel painting. We’ll discuss how to crop photos to consider various compositional options and how to loosely block in dark and medium values that establish a plan\, before adding color. In the afternoon\, students will choose one of their own photos to use as their painting inspiration.\nDay 2: Begin with another short demo using a colorful watercolor underpainting of complimentary colors to create an impressionistic\, “vibrating” effect. After creating several value sketches\, emphasis will be on students painting loosely and using strong marks to strengthen their chosen composition.\nDay 3: Change things up a bit by using a dark substrate instead of a light one. Jill will demonstrate this challenging but highly rewarding way to paint\, not often taught by other pastel instructors. The vibrance and saturation that happens with this process is amazing!\nWhether painting landscapes\, interiors or figures\, Jill Stefani Wagner’s primary focus is always “light” and how it affects the scene she’s trying to capture. Working in pastel and oil\, she approaches painting as a sculptor would\, carving out nuances of light and shadow. An avid plein air artist\, Jill paints landscapes in her studio\, in Europe and in plein air festivals around the U.S.\nJill’s paintings have been juried into many national pastel exhibits and have been honored with prestigious awards. Pastel Journal magazine gave her paintings six Honorable Mentions in their Pastel 100 Competitions. One of her pastel paintings was recently on the cover of Plein Air magazine\, and Fine Art Connoisseur and Plein Air Salon often feature her work. She has been designated a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America and the International Association of Pastel Societies. Jill has been invited Pastel Faculty at the 2016\, 2017\, 2019\, 2022 and 2023 Plein Air Conventions. Her two videos featuring “5-Step Pastel Painting” are available from Streamline publishing.\nJill Stefani Wagner received a B.F.A. in painting from The University of Michigan School of Art. She owned an award-winning advertising firm in Ann Arbor MI\, before “seeing the light” and becoming a full-time artist. For more information\, visit jillwagnerart.com.

SUMMARY:CattyShack Lounge Reservations
DESCRIPTION:Cattyshack\, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of shelter cats in Alabama. We provide food and medical supplies to our foster homes\, as well as pay for all vet care. Click here to MAKE A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION TO SAVE MORE KITTENS! \nAll of our cats are in foster homes\, they DO NOT LIVE AT THE CAT LOUNGE. Only a handful of our available cats and kittens come into the Cattyshack Lounge each Thursday-Saturday. If there is a specific kitten you want to meet\, you can email us to see if they are on the roster\, but that does not guarantee they will be there because the health of cats and kittens can change at a moments notice and they may have to stay home. The only way to guarantee a meet and greet with a specific cat is to have an approved application and arrangements are then made directly with the foster home. \nThe Cattyshack Lounge\, located at Lowe Mill\, 2211 Seminole Drive\, Studio 1062\, Huntsville\, AL 35805\, is a resource for fundraising\, socializing\, and a way to increase cat adoptions. It is designed to allow humans of all ages to play or relax\, decompress or amp up\, and flat out enjoy cats and kittens that need a forever home. You do not need to be looking for a cat to adopt to come visit\, just come play! RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED\, and a $14 donation per person is requested to complete the reservation online\, so make one now by clicking here then come on in\,  find a comfy spot\, and wait for the magic to happen!! \nCat adoptions involve filling out a non-binding application. NO SAME DAY ADOPTIONS ARE DONE AT THE LOUNGE. Please plan to come back to the Lounge the following weekend to pick up your kitty. Please understand that we are all volunteers and it takes time to diligently process each application. To find out more about how the adoption process works\, check out the Our Kitties page!

SUMMARY:Venardos Circus presents 'Far Beyond'
DESCRIPTION:What do you do when the dream comes true? You take it on the road and share it with the world! Venardos Circus is thrilled to announce the launch of a SECOND Touring Company and an All-New Production “FAR BEYOND.” The show will play at MidCity District in Huntsville October 23 – November 2\, 2025. Tickets are on sale now! \n  \nThe show will feature Singing Ringmaster Julia Swann\, the Reyes Brothers’ Juggling Perch Pole\, the Mind-Bending Contortion of Nordic Beauty Sno Bunta\, Slapstick Sensation Sam Ferlo\, Duo Dadiva’s Astonishing Aerial Acrobatics\, the Ridiculous Rob Lok\, Priscilla & Jonathan’s Diabolical Daggers\, and the Wicked Wheel of Wonder! All this and more are woven together with Venardos’ unique theatrical musical production style. This production explores what happens when a dream comes true\, what we discover about ourselves\, and ultimately the responsibility we all share to keep reaching “FAR BEYOND.” \n  \n“This has been a dream in the making for a very long time” said Producer\, Kevin Venardos. “Everyone knows bringing a dream to fruition is no simple task and to create an entirely different touring company that mirrors the same talent\, values\, and level of professionalism we bring to our audiences is truly a labor of love. We cannot wait to visit more cities and introduce The Little Circus that Could to even more people.” \n  \nThe magical experience that is the signature of Venardos Circus from the moment you enter the tent remains but with new acts\, music\, and a different dream to share. The show schedule will be as follows: \n  \n·       Thursday\, October 23 – 7 p.m. OPENING NIGHT \n·       Friday\, October 24- 7 p.m. \n·       Saturday\, October 25 – 2 p.m.\, 5 p.m. \n·       Sunday\, October 26 – 2 p.m.\, 5 p.m. \n·       Wednesday\, October 29 – 7 p.m. \n·       Thursday\, October 30 – 7 p.m. \n·       Friday\, October 31 – Dark \n·       Saturday\, November 1 – 11 a.m.\, 2 p.m.\, 5 p.m. \n·       Sunday\, November 2 – 2 p.m.\, 5 p.m. \nTickets: Kid’s tickets start at just $19 (includes taxes and fees). In the new\, larger tent\, fans will still enjoy the intimate feel and proximity to the performers but with enhanced views of aerial acts due to the taller design of the tent. The VIP Experience will offer assigned seating closest to the stage with guests escorted to their positions and other special experiences. Premier Gallery seating will occupy a multi-tier riser to provide greater visibility. Please visit www.venardoscircus.com for all seating options. \n  \nThe circus performers are also the crew on this traveling tour\, much like the original circus tradition. There are no animals in Venardos Circus. \n  \nParking: Doors open an hour prior to showtime. Concessions are available when doors open. Classic circus treats like fresh popcorn\, cotton candy\, house-made all-natural pink lemonade\, packaged candy\, and more are available for presale online or in the tent. \n  \nWhat to expect on site: \n·       The parking area is flat so there is easy handicap access between the lot and the tent. \n·       Concessions are available but we encourage guests to order online when purchasing tickets. Contactless payment options available. \n·       The main event lasts approximately 90 minutes\, with a brief intermission. \n  \nAbout Venardos Circus: \nThe Venardos Circus\, a unique Broadway-Style Circus performance\, has been touring the U.S. since its debut at the L.A. County Fair in 2014.
