This hike will give us the opportunity to get out and see the upper elevations of the preserve. We’ll start by heading south from the pavilion on the Moonshine Trail. We’ll take the Whole Planet Trail to the Terry Trail for a walk up the hill. A loop on the Bulldog trail will bring the group around to catch the Terry Trail back down to the pavilion. \nSign up \nIn the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather\, we will send a notification to the email address you used to register. \nLocation: The Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve\, 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East\, Huntsville\, AL 35811 (Directions: Coming from Huntsville\, cross Chapman Mountain on Hwy 72 and U-turn at Moores Mill Road. DESCRIPTION:From the Saunter leader\, Lynne Weninegar:   \n\nThese walks are planned especially for those Land Trust Members who are nature lovers and at least 60 years old (or feel our age) who just want to relax and enjoy a slow pace while experiencing nature at its best.  Please come prepared for nature’s little “distractions – ants\, ticks\, other “bugs”\, and the heat”. You will need insect repellent\, snacks\, closed-toed shoes (preferably hiking boots)\, water\, sunscreen and maybe a walking stick if you need extra confidence! Non-members are welcome for their first hike with us\, but are asked to become members of the Land Trust of North Alabama prior to attending a second hike. We love providing fun for everyone on our Preserves. A membership offers you many other opportunities\, as well as provides the Land Trust the ability to continue preserving land in North Alabama! We look forward to seeing you for this year’s Senior Saunters! \n\nJoin us for a Bioblitz at Chapman Mt. and spend some time at the Bird Blind Feature and the newest birding feature just recently installed at the Preserve. He was just cast as a series regular on Freeform’s comedy series\, NONE OF THE ABOVE. In 2018 he was selected as a New Face at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and in 2017 he performed at the festival as part of Kevin Hart’s talent showcase LOL LIVE. Ron has been featured on B.E.T’s “Apollo Live\,” Fox TV’s “Laughs\,” and on numerous viral videos on the All Def-Digital network. He was handpicked by Bill Burr to perform on Comedy Central’s stand up series\, The Ringers. Ron performs in festivals and clubs all over the world\, including hosting Blake Griffin’s Charity Comedy Show in Los Angeles and Russell Westbrook’s Charity Comedy show in Oklahoma City. He is a paid regular at the world famous Comedy Store in Hollywood. Most recently he appeared in the FX series “Oh Jerome\, No” directed by Alex Karpovsky.

DESCRIPTION:Help prepare for a bridge build by hauling steel beams and lumber to the site where Watts Trail crosses Fagan Creek. This work will be strengous and involve hiking to and from the trail entrance while carry lumber. Great full body workout! \nBug spray\, sunscreen\, work gloves\, eye protection\, and water recommended. Complete a separate registration for each individual participating (each person must sign a waiver). Guardians may sign up on behalf of minors. Registration Required. \nDue to safety concerns\, all volunteers must be at least 12 years old to participate. Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a participating parent or guardian. The Land Trust is committed to the inclusion of all qualified volunteers including those with a disability. However\, not all natural work environments are accessible.
