Job Statement
Under the direct supervision of the Billing Supervisor, this position analyzes and resolves billing issues and concerns while performing various billing functions to ensure customers receive error-free bills.
Essential Duties
- Review and analyze meter readings outside billing parameters, deciding whether to release for billing or take corrective action.
- Issue orders for meter rereads or maintenance to ensure accuracy and review results for precise billing.
- Analyze and correct error codes generated when accounts are processed but do not invoice due to errors.
- Perform cancel and rebill functions to correct inaccurate meter readings or estimations.
- Conduct reset clearing and reverse late payment fees as needed.
- Process water repair statements, research cases, and issue adjustments if repairs align with city ordinances.
- Professionally and courteously inform customers about unusually high consumption and resulting high bills.
- Ensure actual readings are obtained when the maximum number of estimates has been performed.
- Collaborate with other departments to research and resolve billing issues.
- Maintain records of implausible routes, keyed orders, and billing corrections.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education/Training/Certifications
- Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred: Associate Degree in Business or a related field.
Experience/Skills
- Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience with the ability to work well with others.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Preferred: Billing experience with account corrections, including cancel/rebill functions, reset clearing, and reversing late payment fees.

- Primarily sedentary work in an office environment.
- Some tasks require repetitive motion over extended periods.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Work schedule may involve alternate hours and weekend shifts.
