SUMMARY:Forest Friends at Chapman Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Families with young children (ages 3 to 5 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nForest Friends is designed with activities for older toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3 to 5 years) to enjoy\, but younger siblings are welcome! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available\, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.\nAges: 3 – 5 years. An accompanying adult is required for all programs.\nWhat to Bring: Closed toe shoes are required. We are having 2 homeschool days\, one on Wednesday\, September 23 and one on Wednesday\, November 18. \nCelebrate the fall equinox and changing seasons with us at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve for our September Homeschool Day. Come and go at any time between 10:00 and 2:00 for our scheduled hikes and story times\, borrow our field guides and binoculars and take them on your own hike\, or work on our self-directed activities with your family. Activities and stories will focus on the equinox and changing seasons\, fall leaves\, and seeds and pollinators. During story time learn about equinox traditions around the world and some of our local animals. \nLocation: Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve – 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East\, Huntsville\, AL 35811 \nDirections: Coming from Huntsville\, cross Chapman Mountain and u-turn at Moores Mill Road. SUMMARY:Monday Mountain Explorers: Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Families with elementary aged children are invited to attend these homeschool enrichment program events focused on exploring the natural environment to develop a connection to the land\, to wildlife and to each other.
