SUMMARY:First Day Hike at Chapman Mountain
DESCRIPTION:(Moderate / probably a bit more than 2 hours / 3 miles)  Come join us at the Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve for our First Day of the Year Hike! This hike on the High trails will give us the opportunity to get out and see the upper elevations of the preserve. \nAfter fortifying ourselves with some coffee\, cocoa\, and snacks\, we’ll head south from the pavilion on the Moonshine Trail.  We’ll take the Whole Planet Trail to the Terry Trail for a walk up the hill.  A loop on the Bulldog trail will bring the group around to catch the Terry Trail back down to the pavilion. \nSign up \nIn the event this hike has to be canceled due to weather\, we will send a notification to the email address you used to register. \nLocation: The Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve\, 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East\, Huntsville\, AL 35811 (Directions: Coming from Huntsville\, cross Chapman Mountain on Hwy 72 and U-turn at Moores Mill Road. When safe\, get into the merge lane on the right (plenty of time). When the silver guard rail ends\, be ready to turn right onto the paved entrance. Drive through the gate and down the gravel road to the parking area at the bottom of the hill.)

SUMMARY:Forest Friends at Chapman Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Families with young children (ages 3 to 5 years) are invited to attend these nature discovery events designed to inspire a sense of wonder about the natural world. Through the sharing of stories\, songs\, and art\, each playful exploration engages both adults and children as we make new discoveries about the plants and animals in this beautiful forest habitat. Because we believe that we protect the places that we love\, we hope to inspire young children to feel a friendly\, respectful connection to nature – forming a foundation for curiosity and enjoyment to last a lifetime. Families are welcome to stay after the event to enjoy a picnic from home. \nForest Friends is designed with activities for older toddlers and preschoolers (ages 3 to 5 years) to enjoy\, but younger siblings are welcome! \n\nCost: FREE but membership to support our mission is very much appreciated.\nReservations: Reservations are required. Space is limited. Please register using parent/guardian’s information and reserve one spot per family (not per child). There are no waitlists for these events. If spaces become available\, registration will reopen so please check back if you’re interested in attending.\nAges: 3 – 5 years. DESCRIPTION:Land Trust of North Alabama is pleased to offer a new outdoor wellness program–Saturday morning yoga at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve. We invite you to join yoga instructor Claudette Dahlberg to lengthen and strengthen your muscles in a vinyasa flow practice. \nThis program will take place in the grassy area adjacent to the Terry Education Pavilion.
