DESCRIPTION:@ 			\n			\n							 \n\n\n\nRegister Here!\n\nThis class is for the absolute houseplant novice as well as successful outdoor gardeners who dabble with houseplants and find limited success. There is a houseplant that will work for every person\, the trick is to discover which ones work best for you and your environment. We will consider why certain plants tend to be more difficult and ways to remedy challenging houseplant situations. Usual challenges within our homes will be addressed (hello kittens & air vents!) and solutions will be discussed. We will examine the most commonly found houseplants as well as some exciting easy care rare plants.  \nThere will be an in-depth presentation of various soils and additives\, along with a repotting chat and demonstration. Each participant will leave the class with a basic knowledge of houseplant care as well as specific solutions to become a confident houseplant keeper. \nCapacity is limited\, so reserve your spot today! \nAdditional Information: This class will take place in person at Huntsville Botanical Garden. Many plants have perished and thrived throughout this journey and Holly’s passion for houseplants has grown in wonderful ways. \nOne year ago Holly moved to Huntsville from the Nashville area with her husband and three children. The family also includes a chinchilla named Michael\, three dogs\, Amya the cat\, several praying mantises\, and a slew of tropical fish and miniature shrimp. In addition to collecting houseplants\, Holly enjoys crocheting Japanese Amigurumi stuffed animals\, and reading British design magazines. She is a nearly life long vegetarian and loves to shop for vintage housewares and furniture almost as much as she loves cake. \n\nAs a nonprofit organization\, the Garden thrives through your support. She feels it’s the best way to bring the outdoors in during the holiday season. Rebecca graduated with her Master of Science degree in Horticulture from North Carolina State University in 2012 and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture\, focusing in horticulture\, from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2010. She discovered her passion for public horticulture and teaching through her mom and her various employments at the SFA Mast Arboretum\, “Nacogdoches Naturally” Education Program\, Missouri Botanical Garden\, the JC Raulston Arboretum\, and Moore Farms Botanical Garden. At the Huntsville Botanical Garden\, she serves as the Vice President of Learning and Public Engagement. She has a strong passion for educating the community\, leadership\, public horticulture\, and sharing her love for the outdoors while teaching. SUMMARY:Botanical Dyes from the Home Garden
DESCRIPTION:@ 			\n			\n							 \n\n\n\nRegister Now!\n\nEcologist and artist Dr. Alison Webb will lead participants in exploring the vibrant world of natural dyes that can be grown in the home garden. During this workshop\, participants will learn to create a rainbow of natural colors with plants that can be easily grown in the garden! \nAttendees will learn how to prepare textiles and select suitable botanical dyes to achieve vibrant\, lasting colors while considering how different fiber types\, such as cotton\, linen\, silk\, and wool\, influence dye uptake. We will explore extending the natural color palette with modifiers such as iron and indigo. \nEach participant will leave with a stack of garden-grown color swatch cards\, a hand-dyed textile\, and access to written information to replicate these processes at home. Alison completed her Ph.D. in Ecology at Utah State University and has traveled extensively for research and teaching. These experiences led her to start her business\, Ecology of Color\, which offers science- and art-integrated classes to her community.
