DESCRIPTION:Please join us in the North Star Classroom Studio 1047 where acclaimed writer and musician Ken Waldman will preform his show titled Now Entering Alaska Time\, where he combines fiddle tunes with Alaska-set stories and poems.  This event is free and open to the public.  It follows his Writing Workshop in the same space earlier in the afternoon.  For information about that paid event\, please click HERE \nIn addition to being a fiddler (with 12 CDs)\, Ken Waldman is a former college professor with an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Alaska Fairbanks. He has 17 full-length poetry collections\, a memoir (about his life as a touring artist)\, 3 children’s books\, a creative writing manual\, a short story collection\, and a novel. The trick is getting started. Here\, you’ll not only begin four new pieces\, but will learn strategies to begin many more. The session is open to writers of all levels and experience. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a great creative idea but just don’t have the cash on hand to make it happen? Join us for an ASCA grants workshop here at Lowe Mill A&E to learn how to apply for funding and make your creative dream a reality! \nThe Alabama State Council on the Arts (ASCA) will lead a grants presentation at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment on Wednesday\, February 11 at 10:00am in Studio 1047. Amy Jenkins (ASCA Visual Arts Program Manager) will provide an overview of the Fellowship programs with suggestions on designing an effective request. Bring your own questions on the programs and application process\, or simply take advantage of the small group setting to learn from the questions asked by other applicants! \nAlabama State Council on the Arts’ Fellowship grants recognize artists and arts educators across the state. This competitive program offers funding for both emerging and established artists to further their professional growth and creative endeavors.
