10 new businesses + 2 closings here in the Huntsville area

As the Rocket City business community continues to grow, we are excited about some new members of the business community that have recently opened or plan to open soon in the area.

1. Schlotzsky’s

The popular deli chain is holding a grand opening celebration next month, with sandwich specials, giveaways and more customer-focused events to mark this new location in Madison.

2. The Chop House

The Chop House restaurant will bring its quality steaks and seafood to Town Madison soon. This will be the first Chop House location in Alabama.

3. Melt (Clift Farm)

Melt has already established itself in the Huntsville area as a go-to for fabulous sandwiches and tasty cocktails at its Jefferson Street location. The eatery will soon open a new location in Clift Farm.

This luxury rental home/apartment community opened May 12 in west Huntsville, providing upscale housing with a bevy of amenities.

7. Haley’s Furnishings

Shop for furniture, lighting, wall decor, rugs, office furnishings and more at this new spot on Bob Wallace.

8. Hair Queen Beauty

Find all things related to hair care at this new business on Memorial Parkway. Products and services range from hair styling to a variety of hair care products.

9. 10th Planet

This new jiu-jitsu training and teaching facility opened this month in Huntsville, and provides a program for people interested in this ancient martial art, regardless of experience.

10. 116 Noble

Chef Allen Noble opened this boutique restaurant in northwest Huntsville earlier this month. This is not, however, a traditional restaurant in that it does not have regular business hours. It is open for supper clubs and other dining experiences, which can be found on the events calendar on the 116 Noble website link below.

2 closings to report in the Huntsville area

Unfortunately, amid the plethora of openings in the area, we saw two popular local businesses close recently:

1892 East: The Five Points restaurant had been open for 15 years, but announced on its website last week that it is suspending operations indefinitely.

Insanity Complex: This sports and entertainment complex was in business for 10 years and provided numerous people in the community with lasting memories. If you read the comments on the closing announcements on social media, you’ll see just how popular this spot in Madison was.
