The first weekend of November includes an array of events in Huntsville and Madison you can enjoy, as fall weather and the beginning of the holiday season are upon us.

This weekend features multiple events at the Von Braun Center, including performances by legendary hip-hop artist Chuck D and classic rock icons ZZ Top, and the Under the Christmas Tree marketplace. Vheck out what is happening in and around Huntsville this weekend:

From folk music on the mountain to hard-core hip-hop, there’s plenty of live music to enjoy this weekend in the Huntsville area:

  • Chuck D: Nov. 4, Von Braun Center, 8PM. Legendary hip-hop artist Chuck D of Public Enemy comes to Huntsville for this unforgettable show.
  • Matt Prater: Nov. 4, Stovehouse, 7PM. Check out the Matt Prater Band live at the Stovehouse. This is an all ages show.
  • ZZ Top: Nov. 5, Von Braun Center, 8PM. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members ZZ Top take the stage at the VBC Saturday night.
  • Round Top Folk Festival: Oct. 5-6, Burritt on the Mountain, 10AM. Enjoy great folk music along with arts and crafts, kids activities and more at Burritt on the Mountain all weekend.
  • Huntsville Symphony Orchestra presents Mozart à la Haydn: Oct. 6, Mark C. Smith Music Hall, 3PM. The HSO is back with a riveting performance of Mozart à la Haydn.

Who doesn’t love a good local marketplace event? Well we have you covered this weekend, with the big Under the Christmas Tree event at the VBC and the Madison County Farmers Market, among others:

  • Under the Christmas Tree Marketplace: Nov. 4-6. Von Braun Center, 10AM. Enjoy special events, children’s activities and specialty merchants at Randolph School’s three-day marketplace, a great opportunity to find unique gifts for everyone on your holiday shopping list.
  • Madison County Farmers Market: Nov. 5, 1022 Cook Avenue, 8AM. Find local produce, crafts and more at this weekly event.
  • Heather McMahon: Nov. 5, Stand Up Live, 7PM. If you haven’t seen comedian Heather McMahon, you need to, because you are in for a real comedic treat at Stand Up Live.
  • Reign Kids Fashion Show: Nov. 5, Palladium Special Event Center, 3PM. Looking for the latest in young people’s fashions? This kids/teens fashion show showcases models from Huntsville and surrounding areas.
  • Fall Education Fair: Nov. 6, Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve, 2PM. Spend some time with the Land Trust at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve with an afternoon of fun, educational opportunities for all ages.

  • North Alabama War Dawgs: Nov. 5, James Clemens High School, 7:30PM. The North Alabama War Dawgs of the American Basketball Association pro league play their home opener against the Jackson Showboats.
  • Southern Grit Climbing Event: Nov. 5, High Point Climbing & Fitness, 3PM. The southeast’s biggest bouldering series returns to High Point. There will be epic climbing, awesome parties with beer and music and a mega haul of prizes!
  • Huntsville Citywide Boot Camp: Nov. 5, Milton Frank Stadium, 8AM. Join Huntsville Parks and Recreation for Citywide Boot Camp, a family-friendly workout for ages 13 and up.
  • 8th Annual Secret Meals 5K: Nov. 5, UAH Campus, 8AM. Proceeds from this event will provide weekend food packs to help feed children in north Alabama, through the Secret Meals For Hungry Children program
  • Simply Saturday Yoga w/Mi-Thai-Mmm: Nov. 5, Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center, 12PM. All skill levels are welcome to this yoga event which includes deep breathing, along with 6-8 poses, vinyasa flow, traditional eastern yoga — including mantra, mudras, singing bowl and more.
