2 new facilities open at Alabama A&M – here’s what to know

November has been a big month at Alabama A&M University, as the school opened two new facilities on its campus — a new Event Center and a Welcome Center — within the last two weeks.

Welcome Center
The Welcome Center, located at the southeastern quadrant of the intersection of Meridian Street and Chase Road, will house the Office of Admissions, meeting rooms, an additional campus unit and includes a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
The $7.6 million structure will also house retail space, commercial restaurants and an executive conference area.

Event Center
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the 135,000 square-foot, 6,000-seat Event Center, located on Memorial Parkway between Louis Crews Stadium and the Huntsville Police Department’s North Precinct, was held Friday, November 18.
The 6,000-seat facility will be the venue for a wide range of sporting events, university ceremonies and numerous activities offered by the campus and community. See additional photos here.
