25 must-try fall drinks in Decatur coffee shops right now to embrace the season
Reading time: 5 minutes
What’s even better than fall flavors like caramel apples, cinnamon, maple and pumpkin? Any of those plus caffeine.
Recently, we shared some new fall drink specials in Huntsville this season. For this guide, we sipped our way around the River City to share must-try fall drinks in Decatur coffee shops.
1. Crossroads Coffee Company
Blink and you may miss this little caffeine cabin near the Priceville Foodland. If you do, make a U-turn, especially for the fall specials. We are told the top pick seems to be the Apple Butter Latte, and there’s more where that came from!
Other fall drinks on the menu:
- Caramel Apple Sucker Lotus
- Loaded Apple Cider Slushee
- Autumn Cookie Latte

2. Beam Roast Coffee
The Beam Bonfire is a former fall special that made the year-round menu, leaving us to wonder if one of the new options will be next. I went for the frappé version of the new Baklava Latte made with honey, pistachio + cinnamon.
Ooo … Oh, wow! It was gone before I made it to my next errand.
Other fall drinks on the menu:
- Maple Oatmeal Latte (maple syrup, oat milk, topped with cinnamon)
- Obligatory Pumpkin Spice Latte (“because we had to!”)
- Maple Bourbon Caramel Latte
- Beam Bonfire (smoky, toasty marshmallow mocha topped with whipped cream + graham cracker crumbs)

3. Current: Coffee + Collectibles
At Decatur’s only vegetarian café, Current: Coffee + Collectibles, try the latte with dulce de leche + cookie butter syrups. It is a new, yet-to-be-named, off-menu drink that’s perfect for fall.
Another secret menu tip? Ask for the burger bites made with richly seasoned Impossible plant-based protein.
Other fall drinks on the menu:
- Dark Magician (“ATK/2500 DEF/2100 a.k.a. a hot latte”)
- Dark Mocha + Mint Dark Magician (espresso with dark mocha + mint)
- Candied Orange + Dark Mocha Creeper (espresso with candied orange + dark mocha)
- Toffee Nut Initiative (signature coffee with hazelnut + caramel flavors)
- Cinnamon Bun + Apple Oat Coldplay (espresso with cinnamon bun + caramel apple flavors with oat milk, served cold)

4. Mad Hatter’s Tea Shop + Apothecary
Staunch PSL devotees can expand their comfort zone with a different take using tea at Mad Hatter’s in downtown Decatur.
Try the Pumpkin King Latte, a combo of pumpkin spice and black tea with caramel sauce, or the Pumpkin Juice Latte, an iced chai tea with pumpkin pie sauce and vanilla cold foam.
Other fall drinks on the menu:
- Beetlejuice Beetlejuice! (desert pear, blueberry, blue lotus with green apple cold foam)
- Hocus Pocus (white lotus with green apple, kiwi, pineapple, glitter + lychee boba add-on)
- Coraline (gold lotus, candy corn, cotton candy, cream, whipped topping)
- Day of the Dead (white lotus, green apple, strawberry puree)

5. High Point Market
High Point Market, also on Second Avenue in downtown Decatur, released an October menu that’s all treats and no tricks. My pick is the same as what I prized in my childhood Halloween candy haul: the Twix Latte.
Made with caramel, shortbread + mocha drizzle, the drink is delicious hot or cold.
Other fall drinks on the menu:
- Reese’s Latte (peanut butter, dark chocolate sauce)
- Eurydice’s Latte (vanilla syrup, coconut syrup, lavender cold foam)
- Beetle Juice (green apple syrup, strawberry syrup)

Finally, I’d be remiss not to mention the simple, hot caramel lattes at Java Jaay Cafe, one of my favorite coffee drinks any time of year—especially in the fall.
