It’s no surprise that North Alabama is filled with gorgeous, diverse landscapes, and these three overlook views are no exception.

Whether you’re seeking a tranquil outing, a photo-op or a nature getaway, here are some of my favorite awe-inspiring lookout spots in North Alabama.

1. Weathington Park | Section, AL

Can you believe these are all the same location? (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

You could almost miss this gorgeous overlook driving through Section. It’s super accessible—it’s simply a matter of parking your car and walking a few paces to the overlook.

The sun sets over the Tennessee River, making this my go-to overlook for sunset watching. They’ve recently added two nice decks for viewing, and there are picnic tables and a short walking trail looping around the overlook.

2. DeSoto State Park | Fort Payne, AL

Stunning views and this beautiful tiled staircase keep me coming back to DeSoto. (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

There is plenty to take in at DeSoto State Park nestled on top of Lookout Mountain. Gorgeous rushing waterfalls and glistening water make this a tranquil spot.

Immerse yourself further in the landscape with activities like camping, hiking trails, fishing, hiking, geocaching and more offered by the park.

3. Little River Falls + Canyon | Fort Payne, AL

The view is different season to season and is especially gorgeous in the fall. (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

You can spend hours exploring Little River Canyon National Preserve.

Enjoy a lush, serene drive to different lookout points throughout the preserve that overlook the canyon. It’s my dream to set up a picnic at one of the overlook spots.

Make sure to stop at the falls to view this captivating waterfall view.

Also worth visiting is the JSU Little River Canyon Center where they offer programs, events, exhibits and a gift shop.
