New study shows 3 Huntsville schools among Best STEM High Schools in Alabama

Niche.com, which has become one of the premier ranking systems for schools nationwide, just released its list of the Best STEM High Schools in Alabama.

Not surprisingly, three of the top 10 are in Huntsville.

The Best High Schools for STEM ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data, and ratings collected from millions of Niche users. 

Statistics obtained from the U.S. Department of Education represent the most recent data available, as self-reported by the schools.

Factors considered include:

  • Top Popular Colleges STEM Score
  • Parent/Student Surveys on STEM
  • Student-Teacher Ratio
  • Math Proficiency
  • Percentage of students interested in or studying a STEM-focused major
  • Average score of colleges that students go on to attend
  • Advanced Math Enrollment
  • AP Math Enrollment
  • AP Science Enrollment

Here are Niche’s top 10 STEM high schools in Alabama:

  1. Alabama School of Mathematics & Science (Mobile)
  2. Indian Springs School (Indian Springs)
  3. Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School (Montgomery)
  4. Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering (Huntsville)
  5. Mountain Brook High School (Mountain Brook)
  6. Randolph School (Huntsville)
  7. New Century Technology High School (Huntsville)
  8. The Altamont School (Birmingham)
  9. Montgomery Academy (Montgomery)
  10. Alabama School of Fine Arts (Birmingham)
