Athens, Alabama is full of hidden gems, including restaurants. Here are 3 lunch spots in Athens I’ve visited lately that I’d recommend to anyone in town.

1. Cash & Jacks

You can’t go wrong with a visit to Cash & Jacks. (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

My order: Salmon BLT with sweet potato fries

Cash & Jacks is a quaint express restaurant just off Highway 72. From sandwiches and burgers to hearty salads and entrees, they have a variety of filling menu options.

The portions are generous and visits are friendly and efficient, making this a go-to lunch spot for me.

Dine-in or call ahead for an effortless, tasty lunch (and you’ll probably have leftovers).

2. Wildwood Deli

Wildwood Deli has been a downtown Athens favorite for years. (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

My order: The Club with Broccoli Salad

Nestled in the quaint downtown Athens is Wildwood Deli. This cozy deli has amazing fresh and made-to-order menu options.

There is a strong sense of community as regulars pop in and out grabbing a quick bite to-go.

It’s just next to the iconic Athens mural, and I love to sit outside to enjoy the downtown atmosphere.

3. Ro’s Grille

My order: Caesar Salad with Lemon Pepper Fish

Ro’s is on my family’s go-to rotation, and I’ve never had a bad experience. Friendly staff, a versatile menu and delicious food make this a reliable lunch spot.

Ro’s is family-owned and the sister restaurant of Cash & Jacks. With different menus and vibes, the food is the same great quality at both locations.
