Huntsville, there’s an exciting upcoming event—“An Evening of Opera” on Thursday, October 7. Keep reading for the deets on this can’t-miss night of opera and classical music.
1. You can enjoy great opera hits
“An Evening of Opera” will showcase the upcoming classical music stars in Huntsville. They will be performing some of opera’s greatest hits, so you’ll get the full opera experience!
- When: Thursday, October 7 at 7PM
- Where: (Trinity Methodist Church) 607 Airport Road SW, Huntsville, AL 35802
- Free, donations accepted
2. You can check out local opera singers
You’ll hear soprano Ariana Maloney and mezzo-soprano Jessica McKenzie. Ariana and Jessica met each other while studying opera at San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
We got to talk to Ariana, who has been studying opera since she was eight years old:
“I have done concerts in Europe, California and the East Coast. This will be my first time performing right here in Huntsville. We’re excited to give the Huntsville community a glimpse into classical music and show Huntsvillians how beautiful opera is.”—Ariana Maloney
Local musicians Christopher-Joel Carter and Ron Guthrie will be playing the piano. Christopher-Joel will also play the organ. Trinity Methodist Church is home to one of the biggest organs in the state. How’s that for a fun fact?
3. BONUS! You can meet the opera singers October 6
The night before is your chance to meet both Ariana and Jessica. You’ll find the opera singers at Stella’s Elixir Lounge at 7PM. This meet and greet will be informal, so come ready for a drink with these upcoming opera stars.
“This is a chance for us to get to know and chat with the Huntsville community.”—Ariana Maloney
Ariana and Jessica aim to bring opera to life in Huntsville, starting with getting to know the community.
