Perhaps you’re skeptical of this one. Many Huntsvillians think that Huntsville has a “small town” vibe—end of story.

But, if you take a look around (and up above), we think there’s a chance to catch the “big city” vibe here in Huntsville, too. After all, we are the biggest city in Alabama.

To make sure we got Huntsville’s collective opinion on the matter, we asked our Instagram audience what places make them feel like they’re in a big city—without traveling out of town. Here’s what you said, Huntsville!

1. Baker & Able + Stella’s Elixir Lounge

These two rooftop bars are both located in Downtown Huntsville, and both give major “big city” vibes.

2. Providence

Providence’s picturesque streets are like a little city within a city—but with a big city feel (say that five times fast). You’ve got everything you need here—shops, restaurants, a bakery, outdoor scenery, events and more.

So, we’re not surprised that our audience listed this as one of the “big city” spots in Huntsville.

3. MidCity + The Orion Amphitheater

Even though MidCity is still in development, it already feels like a big city. The streets are lined with eclectic, artsy and entertaining spots. The Camp keeps us caffeinated, TopGolf keeps us entertained, the murals keep us inspired, the restaurants keep us full and The Orion Amphitheater keeps us singing and dancing.

4. Big Spring Park + Domaine South

And, of course, our audience loves strolling around Big Spring Park to get the big city feel in Huntsville. The famous red bridge, placid pond, nighttime lights and local crowd make for an experience that can give any big city a run for its money.

While you’re there, head up the spiral staircase to visit Domaine South, which overlooks the park. They’ve got a “passion for food, wine and life” at this favorite spot of locals.

BONUS: Traffic on I-565

Our Instagram audience failed to mention this big city staple, but our team here at Hville Blast surely didn’t forget.

Huntsvillians know the traffic on I-565 all too well—but it definitely contributes to a “big city” vibe here.
