$42K grant awarded to Meridianville Volunteer Fire Department

On Thursday, September 24, the Meridianville Volunteer Fire Department announced that the Assistance to Firefighters Grant they applied for has been awarded to them.
The grant is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and is worth $42,000. Assistance to Firefighters Grants are competitive, and many departments apply without getting one.

What will the Meridianville Volunteer Fire Department use the grant for?
The money will go towards purchasing upgraded medical equipment for the team. Specifically, they will be replacing both of their current LUCAS 2 mechanical chest compression devices with two modern LUCAS 3 devices.
These devices provide automated chest compressions to patients in cardiac arrest, so the firefighters can focus on other life-saving tasks.
Each primary response vehicle will be equipped with one of these devices, which will greatly increase the ability for the Meridianville Volunteer Fire Department to save lives as they respond to emergencies.
