Huntsville is full of niche communities—from curated social clubs to live-action role playing, there truly is something for everyone in the Rocket City.

We scouted out just a few of these unique groups to check out in the Rocket City!

Cin Cin Social Club

Check out Cin Cin’s February event calendar.

Kicking it off with Cin Cin Club, a thoughtfully curated community initiative imagined by Huntsville icon Alex Hendrix (formerly “Alex Tries,” musician and Orion Hospitality Manager).

Cin Cin events are real-life Pinterest boards—all gatherings are prefaced with detailed mood boards and outfit inspo. I’m jealous I missed the Launch Party at The Parisian that featured a champagne tower, key charms, caviar bumps, a gorgeous charcuterie spread, build your own bouquets and more.

Huntsville Amtgard (medieval + fantasy combat sports)

Did you know Huntsville has an active fantasy role-play recreation community? Now you do! And you may have spotted the group in their meet-up spot: California Street Park.

Amtgard is a world-wide organization passionate about medieval and fantasy combat sports and recreation. Huntsville’s own chapter gathers weekly for this imaginative activity involving padded weapons, fantasy attire, quests and more.

  • Who it’s for: Locals interested in LARPing (aka Live Action Role Playing) and competitive sports fighting

Silent Book Club

  • reading during Silent Book Club at the Orion
  • Silent Book Club reading books at the Orion Amphitheater.

Picture this: a group of strangers gathering to read books in silence for a set time. No assigned reading, no deadline and no pressure—just community for readers!

That is just how Huntsville’s Silent Book Club works, one of many chapters (no pun intended) nationwide. I recently attended the meetup backstage at the Orion and will be back again next month.

  • Who it’s for: Social + antisocial readers alike (who don’t like the pressures of traditional structured book clubs)
  • Regular Meet-ups:
    • 1st + 3rd Mondays at Gold Sprint
    • 2nd Fridays at Piper and Leaf (Gates Ave)
    • Last Wednesdays at the Orion Amphitheater
  • Upcoming Events | Instagram | Facebook
  • Join the Club: Just show up for an event!

Swing Dance Society

Watch to learn more about the Swing Dance Society on our YouTube.

I’ve attended a few swing dance lessons (as someone with no dance background and little coordination) and always enjoy it. There’s something thrilling about learning some new dance steps alongside friendly faces, then practicing your new moves.

Whether you try it out with a friend or partner, Huntsville Swing Dance Society is happy to share the joy of dance with weekly lessons.

Urban Bike Share Coop

Huntsville Urban Bike Share Coop is a nonprofit organization on a mission to get bikes out of storage and into the community. Through weekly meetups, HUBS Coop teaches the community the benefits of bike transportation, safety practices and mechanical lessons. The group also facilitates bike donations through United Way.

If you’ve got an old bike that needs a tune-up, this group will help you piece it back together and safely maintain it, or pass it along to someone in need.
