Here are 5 new banks that have entered the Huntsville market

We have a strong banking community here in Huntsville, with banks like Bank Independent, Regions, Pinnacle, Alabama Credit Union and more local banks expanding with new branches in the area.

But as Huntsville continues to grow, many regional and national banks have taken notice and opted to enter the Huntsville market. In fact, several new banks have opened their first branches here in just the last year.

1. Local Bank

Headquartered in Tuscaloosa, Local Bank opened its Huntsville office in November, offering a full range of banking services — from personal checking accounts to commercial banking options.

2. Merit Bank

Merit Bank, which is headquartered in Huntsville, opened at The Range near Stovehouse last year. The full service bank offers commercial, consumer and private banking.

3. Nova Bank

Nova Bank opened their new branch in Downtown Huntsville last fall. Nova Bank is a full-service financial institution serving customers in the Huntsville area.

4. Fifth Third Bank

Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank is entering the Alabama market, and in doing so plans to open a new branch here in the Rocket City. This expansion into Huntsville is part of the bank’s plan to open 15 new Alabama branches in the next three years, 10 in Huntsville.

5. Bank47

Bank47, formerly LifeSteps Bank and Trust, announced in February that it will establish headquarters in Huntsville. With a focus on concierge banking, Bank47 provides a tailored, high-touch experience for individuals, families and businesses navigating pivotal financial decisions.
