Tamale time, Huntsville! National Tamale Day is March 23, and we’re gearing up for it with a roundup of some of the Rocket City’s best.

On this list, you’ll find everything from a barbecue restaurant making tamales to a spot that’s making Tamale Tuesday a thing (we support it). Let’s dive in.

1. Teresita’s Tamales

First on our list has to be this one—tamales are in the name! Teresita’s Tamales is a local, family-owned tamale truck where you can find spectacular handmade tamales.

2. Mi delicioso Guanajuato

Mi delicioso Guanajuato is a spot for all kinds of authentic Mexican food—including tamales. They make both red and green tamales, and they’re only available on Fridays. Is anybody up for a day-late National Tamale Day celebration?

3. La Esquina Cocina

Step aside, Taco Tuesday—Tamale Tuesday is here. La Esquina Cocina serves up Tamales de Rajas and Tamales de Pollo, and they’re always homemade. National Tamale Day doesn’t fall on a Tuesday this year, but that’s not keeping up from celebrating Tamale Tuesday.

4. Ted’s BBQ

Didn’t see that coming, did you? Ted’s Bar-B-Q ingeniously uses their famous barbecue to craft some seriously spicy tamales made fresh daily with homemade masa.

5. El Palomino Taqueria

Tucked in the corner of a shopping center on Jordan Lane, you’ll find authentic Mexican food. El Palomino’s homemade tamales are rumored to be some of the best in town—plus, they’re a steal.
