Yala Avenue, owned and creatively directed by Suzanna Richardson, is a celebration of the owner’s Nepalese heritage. The store, that sells jewelry, apparel, home decor and artisan paper products, is named after the historic fine art and craft-based city of Patan, known indigenously as “Yala.”

Nerdzilly

Tara, a life-long artist, started her artisan dice-making business in 2020 after decades of making and collecting dice. Tara works from a studio in Lowe Mill, but can also be found at conventions across the U.S. selling dice and other nerdy goods.

Sister Stitches Needlepoint

Jane and Missy are sisters who have been stitching as long as they can remember. To pass down this pasttime, they opened Sister Stitches Needlepoint, a specialty crafting shop offering needlepoint canvases, fibers and classes for all skill levels.

Toy Place Huntsville

A longtime classic toy store filled with hands-on, imaginative toys for kids of all ages, featuring trending items and gift wrapping.

Vertical House Records

Domaine South

Kristian Denis opened Domaine South, our team’s favorite downtown lunch spot, as a reflection of the Southern hospitality that surrounded her. Alongside a menu of artisan cheeses and boutique wines from around the world, Denis also sells art, jewelry and more made by local artists.

Good Company Café

Angela Ozbolt, owner of Good Company Cafe, is a native of the Huntsville area and a proud recipient of the 2019 WON Rocket Chef award. Good Company Cafe offers breakfast, brunch and lunch and is on its way to a second Five Points Location later this year!

Heart Baker Bakery

Lucia Lissandrelli founded the bakery to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), after her daughter was born with the condition. The bakery specializes in authentic Nicaraguan and Italian baked goods, inspired by Lissandrelli’s heritage.

Hunnydew Bakery

A cottage bakery offering decorated treats. Hunnydew Bakery is run by a home-based baker, who specializes in custom cookies, cakes, and gourmet bakery-style treats.

Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro

Dr. Ashley Ramirez, founder of Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro, started The Bakery in 2013, creating the first gluten-free bakery in Alabama. Ramirez also gave a TED Talk about her story and how she started this business.

The Moon Bakeshop

Madeline Watkins opened The Moon Bakeshop opened in 2019 with a “small batch from scratch” mentality, that quickly made the Moon a big name in town. We talked with Madeline about her shop a while back—you can check that out here!

Nitro Tales

Owner Alka Chain came up with the idea of Nitro Tales after visiting over more than 50 countries. She decided to take her experiences and create a luxury bar with many international flavors for those willing to relax and catch up. Her menu is comprised of Japanese tapas that feature global ingredients.

Stella’s Elixir Lounge

Blue Apple Books

Robin Dauma, retired teacher and Blue Apple Books owner, has called Huntsville home for 29 years. She opened her store in late 2024, hoping to create a space for groups to gather and share their knowledge.

Blushing Books

You might’ve seen Blushing Books’ bright pink book bus at various events around town and looked around their cache of romance titles. If not, no worries! Their team is working to open a new brick and mortar storefront downtown later this year.

Booklegger Used Books

This used bookstore community event space has a ton of space (and books). Booklegger hosts events — like their popular “Book Bedazzling” series — and appears at various markets and pop-ups around town.

The Bookwyrm

The Bookwyrm is a medieval-themed bookstore with a wide array of used titles. In addition to events and clubs around books, this store also hosts game nights and events like their “Learn to play D&D” sessions.

Snail on the Wall

An adorable independent bookstore in Five Points dedicated to providing readers with quality books, events and merchandise. They have thousands of books in-store and also provide a weekly list of The Snail’s favorites.

An artist-led local gallery and studio space dedicated to showcasing local artists and providing classes and programming to encourage growth in the arts.

Gathering Moss Studio
