Mariah Carey has officially defrosted, along with all of Huntsville’s favorite seasonal traditions. While we were unsure before, it’s safe to finally say that the cold weather is here + planning to stick around this time.

Wait! Don’t bundle up + go into hibernation just yet. These freezing temps don’t have to keep you from having a ball in the Rocket City this winter. We’ve got six local activities to keep you busy this season. 👇

Havoc Games

Attending a Havoc Game is a classic winter activity here in Huntsville. Forget a sports event—Havoc games are like a giant party. Plus, you can enter contests like chuck-a-puck, enter-to-win giveaways + try your hardest to get some screen time on the jumbotron during intermissions.

With 21 home games remaining this season, you’ve got time to decide if you’re ready to join the pack. 😉

Tinsel Trail

Are you truly from Huntsville if you haven’t strolled the Tinsel Trail at least once? This activity is one many look forward to every year. Stroll the trail, decide which tree is your fav + perhaps swing by Skating in the Park afterwards.

Galaxy of Lights

Every year, the Huntsville Botanical Gardens transform into a mesmerizing, illuminated winter wonderland. This local tradition is celebrating its 30th year, so don’t miss out on all of the fun, color + holiday-themed scenes.

Calling those who are (and aren’t) artistic!

Enjoying a relaxing painting session with friends + family is the perfect activity for a cold, wintry day in Huntsville. For the month of December, you can recreate the cutest winter-themed paintings.

Holidays at the Orion

Not only is the Orion one of Huntsville’s beloved music venues, it also serves as a hub for fun events. This month, starting December 4, you’ll want to turn the Orion’s post notifications on to ensure you don’t miss out on popular events like Sip & Stroll Holiday Market, Christkindlmarket + more.

Skating in the Park

As mentioned earlier, this activity could go hand-in-hand with the Tinsel Trail. Whether you’re a gold-medal winning figure skater or have never skated a day in your life, there’s room for everyone when you attend Skating in the Park.
