It’s hard to believe that April is almost over and we are about to get into May! Looking ahead to the next month in the Huntsville area, we found several cool events to check out in May — from a rodeo in Limestone County to the home opener for the Huntsville City Football Club.

Here are some of the Huntsville-area events to check out in May:

The Book of Mormon – May 12-14

Broadway Theatre League presents “The Book of Mormom” at the VBC. (BTL)

Don’t miss the Broadway Theatre League’s presentation of “The Book of Mormom.” This outrageous musical comedy follows the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word.

2nd Annual Camp to Amp Festival – May 13

2023 Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo

Those of you looking for thrilling events to check out in May need to head to this rodeo! (Limestone County Sheriff’s Rodeo Committee)

The 41st annual Limestone Sheriff’s Rodeo events are scheduled for May 19 and 20. Gates open at 6PM on both nights with competition starting at 8 p.m. Competitive events lined up for both nights include bareback bronc riding, calf roping, break-away roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, and bull riding.

HCFC first home game – May 19

The long-awaited home opener for the Huntsville City Football Club kicks off May 19! This historic inaugural season for the HCFC not only signifies the first-ever home game for Huntsville new pro soccer team, but is the first event held at the newly renovated Joe Davis Stadium.

2023 Huntsville Classic Featuring Martina McBride

Big Spring Water Lantern Festival

2023 Cotton Row Run

One of the classic events to check out in May (as a spectator or as a participant) is the Cotton Row Run. (City of Huntsville)

For 43 years, the Cotton Row Run has been the premiere Memorial Day running event in the South, honoring fallen military members who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Proceeds from the race benefit Gold Star Families, Snowball Express, Gold Star Moms, and other charities in the community.
