Last month saw the passing of international superstar Dolly Parton, who touched millions through her music, philanthropic efforts and positive spirit.

In honor of one of her most popular songs, “9 to 5,” there are several Dolly Parton-themed events coming up around Huntsville during the 9/25 weekend.

United Way’s Give Like Dolly Day

On September 25, United Way of Madison County is having a Give Like Dolly Day charitable event, where your donations go straight towards giving free books to children in Madison County.

Donations can be made at United Way’s website, and you can choose from the following three options:

$9.25 — One meaningful donation
$92.50 — Supports 3 children for one year of free books
$925 — Supports 30 children for one year of free books

Dolly Day at The Princess Theatre

If you’re a fan of Dolly Parton movies, this is the event for you!

The Princess Theatre in Decatur will be hosting Dolly Day on September 26, where they’ll be playing three movies she starred in.

The event starts at 10AM with a showing of “Coat of Many Colors,” then continues with a showing of “Steel Magnolias” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” with a 20-minute intermission between each film. Tickets cost $15 and give you access to all three screenings.

Disco Dolly’s 9 to 5 Party

Disco Dolly’s on Jordan Lane is hosting a Dolly Parton look-alike party, including a Dolly sing-along — throw on your best outfit and help get the party started!

Admission is free between 7-8PM, and will rise to $10 per entry for the rest of the night.
