A breakthrough year

Head Coach Dawn Thornton has led the Lady Bulldogs into a new era for Alabama A&M women’s basketball.
With the win, AAMU closed out conference play at a dominant 15–1 record and improved to 19–9 overall.
Officially securing the most successful regular season in the program’s Division I history.
Beyond the scoreboard
You may have seen the now-viral locker room hype videos circulating on social media — players dancing, celebrating, and showering coach Thornton with water after statement wins.
The energy has become part of the team’s identity.
Coach Thornton herself has drawn attention beyond the hardwood. Her polished, fashion-forward game day outfits have earned media buzz throughout the season, adding another layer to the program’s growing visibility.
What’s next for Lady Bulldogs?

While Alabama A&M has secured at least a share of the SWAC regular-season title, there’s still more at stake.
The Lady Bulldogs can clinch the outright championship with a win over Grambling or Southern in their final two games — or with a loss from Alcorn State in its remaining matchups.
Either way, this season has already rewritten the record books.
