Airport parking expansion among new high-dollar building permits

This past week, 16 new building permits were issued across the state for construction projects exceeding $1 million. These permits included nine projects in North Alabama.

The priciest of these projects is an expansion of the parking facilities at Huntsville International Airport. Here’s more:

The Huntsville International Airport has undergone a series of changes over the last year or so, part of an overall pl,an to expand the services of the airport as traffic in and out of HSV continues to grow.

The last three months have set passenger records for HSV, and with the addition of more flights and airlines, traffic is expected to keep increasing.

This latest permit, for just over $14 million, is for an expansion to the airport’s existing parking facilities that will add more than 1,400 new parking spaces and a reconfigured entrance. Also included in the project will be a new elevator lobby and stairwell and a new “Fly HSV” façade.

Construction for this phase of the expansion will take up to two years. Robins & Morton is listed as the lead contractor.
