Alabama A&M’s Troy Bruce named SWAC Newcomer of the Week

Alabama A&M University running back Troy Bruce was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Football Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Bruce earned the honor after putting up some big numbers during Alabama A&M’s 38-23 victory over Miles College in the 16th annual Louis Crews Classic Saturday.

Troy Bruce named Newcomer of the Week

Bruce, a senior from Center Point, rushed for a game-high 145 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. He averaged 13.2 yards per attempt as the Bulldogs accumulated 279 rushing yards and 471 yards of total offense.
Bruce opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run during the first quarter. He added a 2-yard score late in the third quarter to extend Alabama A&M’s lead to 38-14. His performance helped the Bulldogs secure their first victory of the season.
Alabama A&M returns to action Saturday against Tennessee State in The Legacy Series. Kickoff is scheduled for 6PM at Louis Crews Stadium.
