Dozens of Alabama universities and community colleges have waived their applications fees this week along with several participating universities from Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. An estimated 26,000 students applied to Alabama colleges through this program in 2021 and 28,000 students applied last year.

“The goal of the campaign is to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students who pursue postsecondary education by assisting high school seniors with the college admissions process and ensuring that each participating student submits at least one admissions application.”

Eric Mackey, State Superintendent of Education
