Alabama A&M senior Arianna GeCora Fletcher was crowned Miss Alabama A&M University last week, in a beautiful ceremony at the T.M. Elmore Building.

The 72nd annual crowning event also honored five members of Miss Alabama A&M’s court. Read all about it below:

Fletcher, the daughter of Adrian and LaShonda Fletcher, is a Huntsville native and graduate of Madison Academy where she was an outstanding student-athlete. She secured the school record in the high jump and won the Alabama State Championships of Track & Field, 4×100 event.  She also won the 4A Alabama Basketball State Championships for two consecutive years.

The graduating AAMU senior is majoring in elementary education and plans to teach K-6 within the Huntsville area before pursuing graduate study. She is actively participating in many organizations and has demonstrated great leadership skills. 

Fletcher is also a recipient of the Heritage Bronze Scholarship and has remained on Honor Roll with a 3.5 GPA.

Fletcher’s Royal Court was also honored at the ceremony Friday.

The Miss Alabama A&M Royal Court includes:

  • Mphandi Phiri, Miss International
  • Amari Lee, Miss Senior, a early childhood education major from Chicago, Ill.
  • Kennedy Brown, Miss Junior, biology, Memphis, Tenn.
  •  Faith Gatson, Miss Sophomore, marketing, Montgomery, Ala.
  • Amber Parker, Miss Freshman, Mobile, Ala.

Escorts for the Royal Court included:

  • Prosper Banda, International
  • Tolulope Oladipupo, Chicago, Ill.
  • Anthony Coleman, Montgomery, Ala.
  • McKelton Johnson, Nassau, The Bahamas
  • Myles Jernigan, Hephzibah, Ga.

Special music was provided by Dr. Doris Spooner Hall, concert flutist; and Steven Todd Miller, concert harpist. AAMU President Daniel K. Wims presented the royal scepter. 

Other program participants included Janae McDowell, mistress of ceremonies; Jaila Green-Mascotti, SGA executive president; Nia Taylor Whitten, Miss Alabama A&M University 2021-22 and her escort Jakobie Forrest.
