How to celebrate Armed Forces Week June 8-15

This week Huntsville is celebrating armed forces, with events taking place Monday through Saturday that you don’t want to miss.

Monday, June 10

Celebrate armed forces week with fireworks

After the 6:30PM Concert in the Park that happens every Monday, there will be a fireworks show commemorating armed forces week starting at 8:30PM. You don’t want to miss this one! Plus you can choose from a wide variety of food trucks and vendors while listening to good old live music.

Wednesday, June 12

There will be a community softball game Wednesday night at the Toyota field between Redstone’s softball team and the North Alabama Rockets, a community leader team. Admission and parking is free, and there will be free hot dogs for the first five hundred people to get in. Gates open at 5PM, first pitch is at 6PM.

Thursday, June 13

The Space & Rocket Center is hosting Rocket to the Tropics, an event featuring a Jimmy Buffet-themed band and tropical food. Tickets are $29 for adults, $15 for children under 12 and free for children under 4. Ticket proceeds support Association of the United States Army (AUSA).

Friday, June 14

The North Alabama Veterans & Fraternal Organizations Coalition (NAVFOC) is hosting a prayer breakfast at the Summit on Redstone Arsenal. Must register here Monday night in order to attend.

Saturday, June 15

This Saturday celebrate the 249th birthday of the U.S. Army! It will be held at Redstone Gate 9 from 4:00PM – 9:00PM. Don’t miss music, food trucks, fireworks, and a car show. Perfect way to top off armed forces week.

Whether you were in them or support someone who is, these events are a great way to celebrate armed forces week and that part of your life. Go to one, or go to them all! Plus, who doesn’t want to see our municipal leaders play softball, or get free hotdogs at Toyota field?
