While our team is out covering goings-on in Huntsville, we are also able to visit a bunch of great restaurants in the area. This past month, we’ve had a lot of good food, and our best bites range from new choices & old staples.

Check out our latest favorites👇

Caroline’s Pick: Poke bowl @ Oshi Poke Bowl and Sushi

Extra for avocado is always worth it. (Caroline Chesnut / Hville Blast)

I am huge fan of poke bowls, and Oshi does not disappoint. I chose the build-your-own option and went with a salmon and spicy tuna bowl over sushi rice with a plethora of add-ins and toppings. I was more than content with the range of options and portion sizes from Oshi, and I was very happy with my meal!

Ashlyn’s Pick: Chicken and waffles @ Salt Factory Pub

Chicken, waffles and gelato?! Name a better combination. (Ashlyn Franklin / Hville Blast)

Ashlyn visited Salt Factory pub and opted for an infamous brunch combo of chicken and waffles; check out what she had to say!

“My best bite was found on the brunch menu at Salt in MidCity. The chicken and waffles were the perfect combination of savory and sweet. Additionally, the maple bacon gelato they serve on the side was a yummy bonus.”

Ben’s Pick: Cacio E Pepe Rigatoni with steak @ One Eleven

Our team likes to visit One Eleven as an upscale option for team lunch. On one of our outings this month, Ben ordered their Cacio E Pepe and had high praise!

“I tried the Cacio E Pepe Rigatoni with added steak at One Eleven downtown. It was incredibly filling to the point where I almost didn’t finish!”

Elizabeth’s Pick: Chocolate chip cookie @ The Moon Bakeshop

Should we do a chocolate chip cookie guide? I think so! (Elizabeth Hobbs / Hville Blast)

Huntsville has a wide-range of local sweet treat spots, and The Moon is one of our favorites for baked goods. Our Senior Content Producer, Elizabeth, especially loved their shortbread chocolate chip cookie this month:

“I crave this shortbread chocolate chip cookie daily. I love the perfect crumbly, soft texture with the rich chocolate chips and sea salt on top. I’ve been on a recent cookie kick, and this one is life changing.”

Elizabeth Hobbs, Senior Content Producer

Mallory’s Pick: Sweet Grace Waffles @ Maple Street Biscuit Co

This month, Mallory visited Huntsville’s branch of Maple Street Biscuit Co. and tried their Sweet Grace waffle—a chocolate chip waffle, topped with strawberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar and maple syrup.

“These waffles are perfectly sweet, fluffy + delicious!”

Lisa was one of several members to visit Barracuda this month (check out Amelia’s extensive review here). Lisa tried their broccoli taco, shrimp taco and queso + chips, + hibiscus lemonade.

“Finally tried Barracuda Taco Stand Huntsville and loved it! The weather was great + I plan to be back for a ‘rita when it’s happy hour or a weekend!”

YUM. (Michael Seale / Hville Blast)

Michael visited Commerce kitchen and ordered a ribeye. While the steak was amazing, he has special praise for its accompaniments:

“The ribeye at Commerce Kitchen is fabulous. I enjoyed not only the steak itself but also the garlic herb butter on it combined with the potatoes… Wow. I ordered a classic Sidecar to drink and that, also, was fabulous.”

Michael Seale, Managing Content Editor

Nick’s Pick: Hot chicken @ Hattie B’s

Hattie B’s is a “hot” commodity in Huntsville! (Nick Perkins / Hville Blast)

While avoiding the “Shut the Cluck Up” spice level that plagued our team a few months back, Nick still ordered the “hot” spice level of chicken tenders at Hattie B’s alongside their signature Nashville comeback sauce.

Really good—not too spicy!
