Best fall drinks to order at Decatur coffee shops
Reading time: 4 minutes

Fall drinks are our favorite way to get into the spirit of the season, and to supplement our Huntsville guide to specialty fall drinks, we’ve rounded up sips to savor at Decatur coffee shops, too. Read on for what to order around the River City.
High Point Market

High Point Coffee in downtown Decatur rolled out its first fall menu in September, and we were there for it. While it was warm outside, I was looking up fall color guides the minute I tasted the Caramel Apple Cider.
With a new list of options for October, it looks like it’s time to go back!
Here are the new fall specials for October at High Point:
- Maple Pancake
- Praline Pumpkin
- S’mores Latte
- Apple Cider Chai
- Blackcherry Spritzer

The Mallard

At The Mallard in historic Old Decatur, I came for the fall drink menu and left with a Candy Apple Chai and a pretty little plant for my sister.
Here’s the full list:
- Pumpkin Butternut Spice
- Nana Nut Bread
- Bourbon Cap
- Candy Apple Chai
- Pumpkin Cold Brew
- Cozy Cardamom Matcha
- Optional flavor add-ins: pumpkin, butternut spice, banana pecan, bourbon, cardamom, apple, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, pH Delight

Java Jaay Cafe

While my go-to at Java Jaay is always the sugar-free caramel latte, I won’t let the season go by without trying the white chocolate pumpkin spice latte, a twist on the traditional PSL (also available).

Current: Nerd Café

Current: Nerd Café is always fun to follow on socials to keep up with the creative drinks of the week and equally elaborate chalkboard illustrations to match. For October, the team is rolling out a monster-themed drink every week.
So far, we’ve seen:
- The Zombie milkshake (sorry, no Cranberries, they report, just caramel + green apple)
- Ghost, a cream soda ice cream float with marshmallow fluff + caramel

The Owl Cafe at XEO Brewing

Decatur’s only brewery, Cross-Eyed Owl (XEO), launched The Owl in November of last year, serving up coffee drinks made from beans roasted on-site.
This season’s drinks at The Owl include a Pumpkin Spice Latte and Salted Caramel Toffee Latte (I’ve tried the latter – do it!). You can order them hot, cold or with mocha—just ask.

Crossroads Coffee Company

If you like options, don’t pass by this tiny coffee stand near Priceville Foodland on Highway 67.
The fall drink menu includes:
- 7 espresso drinks (The Stars Hollow Latte with cookie butter + salted caramel, anyone?)
- 4 Lotus specials (Ah, pear, white peach + pineapple in the Golden Ember sounds good.)
- 3 dirty soda options (Sweater Weather Dr. Pepper with vanilla + caramel is what the doctor ordered.)
- 8 sugar-free options (4 Lotus + 4 coffee … I am eyeballing the Voodoo cookies + cream coffee.)
