Huntsville’s many coffee shops play a large role in what makes the city and its surrounding areas great places to live. Black Dog Grounds & Sounds in Madison was no exception.

The beloved small business, which sold coffee, vinyl and hifi for over two years sadly closed on Saturday, June 3. Owners Cliff and Leslie Patterson posted the announcement to social media on Sunday, May 21.

If you’d like to know how great Black Dog’s impact was on the community of Madison, simply browse the comments on their Instagram and Facebook posts announcing the café’s closing.

In their post, the owners noted their year-to-date growth and the friendly faces who made up their customer base.

“For our customers who have become friends along the way- we love you, and thank you for your support! We hope our paths will continue to be intertwined.”

While we — along with their many other patrons — will miss Black Dog dearly, this isn’t the end for the owners’ business endeavors.

Details on their next project have yet to be released, but we hope it will continue to incorporate Cliff and Leslie’s passion for community building, good eats and great music.
