Calhoun professor Matthew Riggle to compete on Jeopardy!

On Thursday, July 23, Calhoun Community College mathematics professor Matthew Riggle will be taking on the Jeopardy! stage.
The iconic game show has won 46 Emmys and rakes in over 20 million weekly views, giving this Huntsville professor quite the stage to test his knowledge.
Riggle will be competing against Jacqueline Ziegler of New York, as well as a mystery returning champion.

Who is Matthew Riggle?
Matthew Riggle is a beloved Mathematics professor at Calhoun Community College. With two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree from Western Kentucky University, Matthew has quite the resume.
With a solid 4.9 out of 5 on Rate My Professor and a strong score of 98% in the “would take again” category, Riggle is a beloved professor known for his unique and empathetic approach to breaking down complex topics for anyone to understand.

How did Matthew Riggle land a spot on Jeopardy?
To compete on Jeopardy!, contestants must pass a 50 question test to complete the first round of qualifications. The test takes approximately 13 minutes, with a 15-second timer per question. The pressure is definitely real during the test.
After passing the test, contestants are then invited to audition for the show. Even after this process, potential contestants are still not guaranteed a spot on the show, making Matthew Riggle’s appearance on Jeopardy! quite the achievement.
