The 2026-27 school year starts in just a few weeks (believe it or not), and as parents and teachers prepare for the new school year alongside the students, it might be good to know the important dates for each system.
We have put together the school calendars for each system in the Huntsville area, including Athens City Schools.
Take a look at the calendar for the upcoming school year (and let us know if we have any dates listed incorrectly):
Here’s the 2026-27 school calendar for Athens City Schools
- August 3-5: Teacher Work Days
- August 6: First Day of School
- September 7: Labor Day/No School
- September 16: Half Day
- October 5-9: Fall Break/No School
- October 28: Half Day
- November 11: Veterans Day/No School
- November 25-27: Thanksgiving Break/No School
- December 18: Half Day Day
- December 21-January 4, 2027: Christmas Break
- January 5: Students Return
- January 18: MLK Holiday/No School
- February 10: Half Day
- February 15: Presidents’ Day/ No School
- March 15-19: Spring Break
- April 22: Half Day
- April 23: Weather Day
- May 20: Graduated Day AHS
- May 27: Half Day/Last Day of School
