Coffee + beer? These Huntsville spots serve both

Imagine this: You’re craving a pick-me-up, so you grab a latte at a cafe. After a few hours, you think, “You know what would be nice? An ice-cold beer.”

If you’ve ever run into that situation, you’re in luck. You can get both coffee and beer at these five spots in the Huntsville area.

Straight to Ale + Campus Grounds

Straight to Ale’s craft brews are beloved in the Huntsville community and have even won some awards. Now, thanks to a new coffee shop located inside the brewery, customers can grab a tasty “brew” of a different sort.

Campus Grounds made its debut inside Straight to Ale Brewery this month. The coffee shop offers a variety of coffee drinks and agua frescas (a refreshing, non-alcoholic beverage).

Aside from drinks, Campus Grounds also offers muffins, breakfast sandwiches, tots and berry parfaits.

Green Bus Brewing + Bus Stop Coffee

You can satisfy your coffee and beer cravings right in the heart of Downtown Huntsville.

Located around the corner from the Courthouse is the adorable Green Bus Brewing.  The “nano brewery” specializes in small batches of new beers, so the tap list changes often. 

In 2023, Green Bus welcomed Bus Stop Coffee to share its space. The coffee shop serves lattes, cold brew, teas, locally-sourced bagels and more.

Charlie Foster’s

While not a “beer” spot, Charlie Foster’s offers delicious espresso drinks, wine and cocktails. (It’s also a personal favorite of mine!)

It has a cozy environment, perfect for remote work, and its wine selection is hard to find anywhere else.

Das Stahl Bierhaus + Kaffeehaus

Das Stahl Bierhaus has a rotating selection of 32 beers, ciders and meads on tap. 

Aside from tasty bar food and drinks, this spot also has a coffee bar inside called Kaffeehaus.

Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company + The Owl Cafe + Roastery

Popular Decatur brewery, Cross-Eyed Owl Brewing Company, added a coffee and espresso bar last November called The Owl Cafe & Roastery.

This spot has tons of seating options, plenty of natural sunlight and hosts fun community events.
