Dancing is a fun way to burn some calories while learning a new activity and connecting with a partner. Did you know there are several dance studios in Huntsville that offer lessons for a wide range of ages and skill levels?

We’ve rounded up five of the Rocket City’s favorite spots for dance lessons, including a free, recurring event at The Electric Belle.

1. Element Huntsville

Element Huntsville is located in the Hampton Cove area and offers classes to students as young as 2 years old and up. All classes are offered mid August through May, with special classes and camps available in June and July.

Dance lessons in genres like jazz, pre-pointe and tap are available to students as young as 6 years old, and individuals 18 and up can partake in adult cardio hip hop or contemporary ballet classes.

2. Dance Theatre of Huntsville

Dance Theatre of Huntsville focuses on teaching modern and classical dance while incorporating African traditions and storytelling. Explore their classes in ballet, modern and competition dancing as well as their many dance programs.

3. Fred Astaire Dance Studios

Founded in 1947 by the titular American dancer and actor, Fred Astaire Dance Studios has locations around the globe, and we’re lucky to have one here in Huntsville. At this studio, you can receive dance lessons in American and international ballroom dance, including wedding dance instruction.

4. Southern Elegance Dance Studio

Southern Elegance Dance Studios is owned by Rick Jones, a certified teacher with the National Dance Council of America with over 20 years of teaching experience. They offer instruction in styles like salsa, country-western and waltz.

5. Baila Huntsville

Every class at Baila Huntsville is taught by experienced dancers in a progressive learning system that assures you won’t miss a beat. This studio teaches salsa and bachata, private lessons and they hold salsa parties on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
