David Gant chosen as new fire chief in Scottsboro

On September 28, the city of Scottsboro named David Gant as its newest fire chief after a City Council meeting. Gant has worked within the Scottsboro Fire Department for at least the last 11 years.

He takes over the top job at the department from Jon Lee, who was chosen back in 2024.

In a Facebook post on September 29, the city had this to say:

“We would like to welcome Scottsboro’s new Fire Chief, David Gant…We wish Chief Gant the very best as he begins this new chapter in service to the City of Scottsboro!”

On this same post, over 70 comments were left congratulating David, so it’s safe to say that many in the community support and have confidence in the City Council’s decision.
