Decatur recycling now set to resume April 21

After more than a month of suspended service, the City of Decatur announced that curbside recycling will resume April 21. Morgan County residents will also be allowed to resume using designated recycling drop-off sites on the same day.

Recycling resumes in Decatur + Athens

The pause in service is the result of a recent failure of the baler system at the city’s recycling processing facility. This has affected recycling services in Athens as well.

Recycling service will return in phases, beginning April 21.

Service resumes for Decatur residents on Blue Pickup Day routes, and normal scheduling resumes thereafter.
Residents who have been storing recyclables are asked to fill their carts only to the top during the first collection cycle.
Additional materials should be phased in over the following weeks.

This phased approach will help crews manage volume and ensure a smooth transition back to full operations.
