The buzz about MidCity’s new Dragon Alley is growing into a roar, as the soon-to-open Asian street food restaurant hosted a preview night this week. While we don’t yet have the official opening date, we are here for you with photos and a few details to feed your curiosity until then.

Read on for what we know + a look around.

New concept, familiar team

While the name and concept of Dragon Alley are new, the team behind it is one many Huntsvillians know and love: HX Brands, the minds behind Kamado Ramen, Tous Les Jours, I ❤️ Sushi, Chop N Fresh, Kung Fu Tea, Oh Crêpe!, Fresko Grille, Loona’s and Seoul Good.

Dragon Alley has an Asian street food focus and a 1990s Hong Kong atmosphere to match. Bold neon signs glow across almost every surface amid dim lighting punctuated by the red glow of pendant lights and lanterns. A massive faux Japanese maple creates a canopy over one dining area.

“Dragon Alley is all things electric, bold and delicious! You can feel the lively energy before you even enter the building.  It’s the kind of place where the experience is just as unforgettable as the food. I especially love the decor—something new will catch your eye everywhere you look!”

It indeed feels like a bustling city street full of food vendors—social, energetic and aromatic with savory scents.

On that note …

The menu + experience

Expect variety and a lot of flavor on the Dragon Alley menu, with items like:

🐟 tuna tartare
🍣 sushi
🥒 cucumber salad
🍜 ramen
🍹 specialty cocktails
🤗 much more … including karaoke 🎤

While it’d be great for an upbeat date night, the place seems especially well-suited to groups, with a lively vibe for after-work get-togethers with colleagues or weekend dinner out with friends.

When does Dragon Alley open?

HX has not yet announced an official grand opening. For now, we’ll be following updates and let you know as soon as we do!
