Drake State Manufacturing Center among new building permits

Two new building permits were approved statewide this week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, and both are for projects in Huntsville.

One of those new building permits is for the Advanced Manufacturing Center at Drake State Community and Technical College. Here’s what we know about these projects:

Fite Building Company is the lead contractor for the new Advanced Manufacturing Center at Drake State.

The project includes two 50,000-square-foot buildings consisting of classrooms, welding and machine tool labs, industrial and electronic labs, additive manufacturing and additional academic spaces.

The buildings are single story structures with interior equipment platforms and an integral tornado shelter.
