The City of Florence approved an extension of its entertainment district to the new Bank Independent Stadium near the University of North Alabama campus.

The expansion of the district allows football fans to tailgate in the new areas around the stadium and be able to purchase and openly enjoy alcoholic beverages outside the bars and restaurants in the city.

The downtown area is the hub of the entertainment district, and the expansion includes an extension along Pine Street linking downtown directly to “The Pines” tailgating area.

Beer and wine will be served inside Bank Independent Stadium during UNA games as well.

However, since the stadium is also meant to host events other than just UNA football games, the expansion of the entertainment district will also be utilized for future events such as concerts and conventions.

UNA’s first home game at the new Bank Independent Stadium is scheduled for September 19.
